The Videogame Club
The Video Game and Design Club at the University of Denver is comprised of students with backgrounds and interests ranging the full spectrum of multimedia and design. The members not only focus on the design and interaction with video games but create a network of artists, programmers and designers that they take with them once they have finished their time at the university and move onto careers in the industry.
The club fosters an environment of creativity and friendship while encouraging its members to take an active role in a much larger gaming community. Many members of the club are also members of the International Game Developer's Association and participate in IGDA sponsored events as well attend gaming conferences.
Club sponsored events include Local Area Network parties where all students and even members of the faculty are invited to come and play games to develop an appreciation for this form of digital entertainment.
Additionally, the club forges connections with local developers in the community and gives its members the invaluable opportunity to visit local gaming studios. This allows time with professionals in the industry who offer insight and suggestions on ways to prepare for breaking into this fast-paced and often intimidating field.
Whether it be a network of friends, a collection of contacts, insights into the gaming industry or just a break from the tedious monotony of school work; every member of the Video Game and Design Club takes away their own unique and valuable experience.
So, whether you have a love for the design of video games or simply the excitement of playing them, come by and test your skills against the members of the Video Game and Design Club – regardless of your success there will always be cake.
The Video Game and Design Club meets regularly every Friday of the quarter at 3:00pm in the gaming lab of John Green Hall, room 318. For more information about the Video Game and Design Club you can contact Christopher.King@du.edu
