PROCEDURE FOR ADDING
PRINTER DRIVERS TO YOUR LAPTOP FOR THE
PRINTER IN JGH LAB 318
(Don McCarthy, Autumn 2002)
NOTE: The following instructions are for laptops
with “Windows 2000” or “Windows XP” operating systems only. If your operating
system is any of “Windows 95”, “Windows
98”, or “Windows ME”, see your instructor to obtain the appropriate procedure
sheet.
1.
Make
sure you have either the latest version of DUNet installed on your laptop or no
version at all. If you had DUNet
installed earlier than Fall Quarter 2001, it most probably is the wrong version
and will cause the computer to hang when trying to install JGH printer drivers.
If your laptop doesn’t have any version of DUNet installed, it would probably
be a good idea if you had it installed either at the help desk in Penrose
Library or by downloading it directly from http://www.du.edu/uts/helpdesk.
Follow the directions given on the web site. By installing DUNet, you will have
access to many printers scattered about campus. Note that the absence of DUNet
should not have any effect when installing JGH printer drivers. Also, the old version of DUNet does not have
to be removed before installing the new version. The new version will overwrite
the old version.
2.
Make
sure you have the capability of logging
into the DU network, i.e., the Internet is accessible.

on “Start”, “Settings”, and “Printers” to view the “Printers” window.

in this box. Click “Next”.
10.
In
the next window click “Finish”. After waiting a few seconds, you will be
